Tasting menu at Moulin de la Galette

Of the 14 windmills that once topped the hill of Montmartre, only two are still standing today; “Moulin Radet” and “Moulin Blute-fin”. Together they make up the “Moulin de la Galette” which used to be a famous guingette and was immortalized by Toulouse Lautrec’s famous painting of the same name. Nowadays, Parisians no longer go there to dance. Rather, they go there to enjoy one of the finest cooking in Montmartre as Chef Antoine Heerah has now turned the Montmartre landmark into a classic and subtle restaurant with an authentic bistro-style atmosphere.

The lunch menu costs 25€ but if you cannot pick a dish on the mouthwatering menu, you can instead try the tasting menu, served for lunch and dinner. For just 50€, you will get 2 starters, 1 meat dish, 1 fish dish and 1 dessert.  If you plan on going on a sunny spring or summer day, be sure to book a table in the garden: just magical!

Should you need a digestive walk after your meal, don’t rush straight away to the Sacré-Coeur. Many attractions are within short distance: Egyptian-born singer Dalida used to live just in front of the Moulin de la Galette, on rue d’Orchampt and her huge house is worth a detour. You may also wander on avenue Junot and Villa Leandre, two of the most high-end streets in Paris. And if you head to the Sacré-Coeur, make a stop on Place Marcel Aymé and have a look at the “Passe-Muraille”, the statue by Jean Marais inspired by Marcel Aymé‘s novel.
